Cape Buffalo

This great old bull was shot far out in the swamps of the Moyowosi Game Reserve in western Tanzania. He was part of a large herd that had gone to water. For two or three anxious minutes we sat absolutely still fewer than 60 yards away waiting for the bull to present the shot we wanted. For what seemed the longest time, he eyed us down shaking his massive head back and forth trying to figure out just what we were. Finally, my client Myles seized the opportunity and shouldering his fine English made double rifle, fired a well aimed shot. The bull lumbered off into long grass and quickly stopped. When we came up on him he was mad as hell, but would not charge. To this day I don't know why. I gave him every opportunity.
