My very good friend and client of many safaris, Winston Stalcup, with a great bull we found not far from a place we called Mbugo ya Simba, Valley of the Lions. As we always do, Winston and I found ourselves bashing-bush over roadless country hoping to run into something big when, to our surprise, five bulls suddenly jumped to their feet and ran off across an open mbuga. Immediately I spotted this fine bull and told Winston which one he was. Winston is not known to dally on the trigger and an instant later his .416 Weatherby roared. In spectacular fashion, the bull came crashing to the ground. It was over before either of us knew it. Winston and I have killed many buffalo together and I look forward to the day we can do it again.
